We are a Christian, homeschooling family. Stitch-In-Time Doll Designs is a family run business. Maggie, the mom, is in charge of designing and sewing doll clothes. Tom and Jamie, the teenagers, are responsible for photographs, customer service, answering e-mail, packaging and shipping.
We supply 2 lines of doll clothes, a Collector's Line and a Traditional Line. Each line of clothing is designed for a different pupose.
Created with younger children in mind, our Traditional Line of doll clothes provides wholesome, classic styling and quality construction. These doll clothes are toys first. They may be beautiful, even elegant, but above all they must be sturdy. Fabric and trim have been pre-washed and pre-shrunk to retain their shape even after repeated handling. Many of the fabrics are a blend of natural and manmade fibers, which ensures their durability and stain resistance.
Playing dress-up is one of the best parts of playing dolls. For this reason most garments in our Traditional Line are designed to fasten with velcro, making it easy for younger children to change their doll's outfit as often as desired. A few garments close with buttons; in this case the description will clearly state ~Fastens with Buttons~.
All seams are machine sewn and finished for strength. Stress points are reinforced with double stitching. Products are not indestructible, but they are assembled with active play in mind. Mishandling should be avoided and discouraged. Common sense must be used at all times. For instance, scissors will cut doll clothes and permanent markers will stain them, facts which are true of even the best quality products.
Affordability, long lasting quality and stylish modesty are signature traits of our Traditional Line. If you are looking for more detailed, historically accurate garments then try our Collector's Line.
Designed for older girls and adult collectors who appreciate superior quality and historical accuracy, our Collector's Line is a customer favorite. Ensembles are carefully researched and inspired by a variety of resources including period artwork, antique fashion prints, vintage photographs, periodicals, and even museum pieces. We use high quality, period appropriate fabrics and trim. Well made lace is especially important. It improves the quality of any garment and continues to look good, even as it ages.
Seams are primarily machine stitched and finished. Embellishments and finishing details are meticulously applied with fine handsewn stitches. Most garments fasten with hand-applied metal snaps. A few use small metal hooks and eyes or tiny matching buttons.
Items in our Collector's Line are intended for display and gentle play. They are not recommended for younger children or those who are still learning to care for a quality doll. If you need durable, attractive doll clothes made especially for younger girls and active play then try our Traditional Line.
